AY2026-27 UDIST Course Proposal
Ends on
This application is for submission of proposals for UDIST courses to be considered for the 2026-27 academic year.
Upper Division Interdisciplinary Studios (UDIST) offers junior and senior level students the opportunity to re-engage with curiosity driven interdisciplinary learning at a time when they have begun to more fully develop their chosen field of study. UDIST courses incorporate modes of inquiry, research and making from a variety of disciplines in order to raise questions, develop research techniques, explore collaboration in all forms, create new work, and solve problems in ways that would not have been possible within other programs at CCA.. UDIST courses support CCA's values and mission while addressing the interdisciplinary College-Wide Learning Outcome: “Students adapt and apply skills, ideas, or methodologies gained in one situation/activity/discipline to new situations/activities/disciplines.”
A UDIST course should offer experiences that are not available to students in their discipline-specific coursework. Proposals that explore contemporary subject matter, novel materials, exploratory techniques, and developing technologies are highly encouraged. UDIST courses should not duplicate existing coursework currently offered within specific programs.
UDIST courses are designed so that students successfully achieve the UDIST Course Learning Outcomes:
- Connections to Discipline -Learning to see connections across disciplinary perspectives and the ability to articulate or demonstrate a basic understanding of the methods used in the primary discipline/focus addressed by the course.
- Interdisciplinary Transfer- Learning to adapt and apply the techniques, theories or perspectives gained in one situation to a new situation in order to create original work.
- Collaboration- Students work cooperatively to achieve shared goals incorporating multiple group members’ perspectives utilizing the shared knowledge made possible through collaboration.
